Feast of Christ the King - Commitment Sunday

Sunday 24^th November is the Feast of Christ the King and our Commitment Sunday (an opportunity to commit to God our individual plans for the coming year – our financial and practical commitment to the Lord’s work in this Parish).  Please make a special effort to be at Church on that day.  8:00am at Whorouly; 9:15am at Myrtleford and 11:00am at Bright.

This Sunday - One Service

Sunday 20^th May – Combined Parish Service at St Paul’s, Myrtleford at 9:15am -  the Venerable Dr John Davis (Diocesan Archdeacon and Vicar General) will preach and following the service Fr John will lead us in developing a ‘Strategic Plan’ for the Parish (our direction for the next few years).  We will conclude with a ‘bring and share’ lunch.

ASCENSION DAY – this Thursday 17 MAY 8:00am

This coming Thursday is Ascension Day, which because it always falls on a week day, is often not observed as well as other major Feast Days marking important points in the life of our Lord. This year we will celebrate Eucharist in the Chapel at St Paul’s, Myrtleford. Afterwards you are welcome to join us for breakfast and fellowship in the Hall.

Alpine Parish - 'Walk, Talk & Gawk'

When: Saturday 10^th September

Meeting place: outside St Paul’s, Myrtleford at 1:30pm.  All are welcome.

Join Fr Scott on a leisurely guided nature walk at Gapsted, with frequent stops for observation, as he reveals the beauty and wonder of what lies at ground level – orchids and other wildflowers. Let us open our eyes to see that the sacred is not confined to the Church – it is within all of creation, for God created it all.  The beauty of the natural world is, at best, the echo of a voice, not the voice itself.  Beauty is if you like, a signpost pointing beyond itself.  Heaven and earth are full of glory.  But whose glory is it? The Psalmist says: O Lord our Governor: how glorious is your name in all the earth!  The Christian tradition has said, and indeed sung, that the glory belongs to God the Creator.  It is his voice we hear echoing off the mountains, murmuring in the sunset. 

God speaks to us also through the written words of Holy Scripture, through other people, through the sacraments, through stillness and silence and we can hear an echo of his voice in the beauty of the world that surrounds us – in the beauty of birds, orchids, wildflowers, the mountains – they are signposts pointing to God.
